The Amarula Best Retreats in Africa Awards 2008 were created from bronze which is an internationally recognised medium for creating art sculptures.
Bronze lasts through time (it has very good archival qualities) and for this reason it is the perfect medium for these prestigious trophies.
These are more than just trophies; they are works of art befitting the deserving Best Retreat finalists.The sculpture was first created out of wax and then through a series of processes, it was translated into 10 bronze trophies.
Leonard Shapiro of CraftSouthAfrica was commissioned to produce the trophies and Jop Kunneke of Bronze Age Art Foundry created the wax sculpture from which the bronze sculptures were cast.
